Pollicy: Principles of Afro-feminist AI Data

This toolkit offers a framework for understanding and creating Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems that are emancipatory and liberatory, specifically through the lens of Afro-feminism. Drawing on Dr. Sylvia Tamale's work on Afro-feminism, it seeks to address the unique experiences of African women while challenging systems of domination such as patriarchy, racism, and global imperialism. The toolkit provides tools and methodologies to help organizations and individuals work towards building AI that is inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the diverse realities of marginalized communities, particularly in the context of gender, race, and power structures.

These systems harm indigenous and workers' rights, climate justice efforts, democracy movements, and more. The Everywhere Border pilot project, supported by organizations like R3D (Red en Defensa de los Derechos Digitales, Mexico) and Temple University’s iLIT, aims to build a network to combat the impacts of this digital migration control infrastructure across the Americas.
